This Saturday 26th March is the big day for the anti cuts movement, hundreds of thousands of people will March in London for an alternative to the spending cuts. We’ll be there representing the One Good Cut campaign, a campaign aiming to get monetary reform onto the anti-cuts agenda as a viable alternative.

Over the next few months we aim to present the arguments for monetary reform to the environmental and anti-poverty lobbies, explaining why banking and finance have an exacerbatiing effect on environmental destruction and poverty at home and abroad, and how taking back control of the money supply offers us a way out of these problems.

Whether you are against the recent spending cuts or not, the past few months have shown that protest in the UK can be successful, the Save the Forests campaign achieving a total U-turn in government policy, the actions of UK Uncut rousing the left and showing signs of small turnarounds in government tax policy.

As you will know if you are receiving this email, the greatest commons resource of all, the money supply, has been privatised and turned from an instrument of value into an instrument of debt. Every single penny of all the money in flow in the UK has been borrowed from a bank, and the banks decide who gets to borrow it, and for what purpose.

The enormous size of the banking sector is sucking the life out of the economy, and the signs are more visible now than ever before. It cannot continue forever, the profits earned from exercising the benefits of their unfathomably profitable subsidy is not sustainable, and the real economy suffers every day as a result.

I feel it is unlikely that banking reform will be achieved purely through lobbying and good ideas, protesting and demonstrating support in public places is bound to play a significant part in this. Whether or not we have a role to play in this as an organisation, many of you receiving this email will. Saturday 26th March is the biggest event of its kind since the Iraq war demonstrations, there will be plenty of opportunity to make ourselves heard, have a good day out, and meet other like minded people at this event.

March with us on the 26th, visit http://www.positivemoney.org.uk tomorrow evening to get prepared and find out how you can put banking reform at the heart of the protest movement.

Kind Regards

Occupy for the Alternative!

Posted on Tue 22nd Mar 2011, 11:16am

Facebook event »

On March 26th, join UK Uncut as we take over Oxford Street, say no to the cuts and make the tax dodgers and the banks pay.

11.30am Meet outside the National Theatre on the South Bank to march with the UK Uncut bloc
2.00pm Come to Oxford Street to join in the actions. You can view a list of planned actions on the actions page. This might mean leaving the march a little early. Talk to people as you march, explain to them what Occupy For the Alternative is and see if you can persuade them to join you.
3.30pm Gather at Oxford Circus ready for a mass occupation of a top secret target. You don’t want to miss this!

Until now we have been fighting a phoney war. On March 23rd George Osborne announces his budget and the real battle begins. We don’t know the exact details of the budget yet, but what’s certain is that it won’t be a blueprint for any mythical Big Society. Instead, it’ll be a recipe for a society that is smaller, colder and crueller.

But there is an alternative. And on March 26th the fight back begins properly, with hundreds of thousands of people descending on London to join the TUC’s massive March For The Alternative. UK Uncut will be joining the march, but we’ll also be bringing a little something of our own to the party.

Over the last five months, thousands of UK Uncut volunteers across the country have been hitting the high streets to show that there are alternatives. Collect the tax dodged by the super rich and make the banks pay for the crisis they caused.

On March 26th, just after the huge march has reached its final destination, we’re going to be holding Occupy For the Alternative, a massive simultaneous shut down of banks and tax dodgers on London’s Oxford Street.

From 2pm flash mobs, bail-ins and occupations will shut down the dozens of banks and tax dodgers along the length of Europe’s biggest shopping street.

And at 3.30pm, after the dispersed actions, there will be a massive final convergence, ready for a spectacular mass occupation of a secret target.

March 26th is not the end of the battle against the cuts. It is the beginning. Join us on Oxford Street and let’s help kick things off in style.

After you’ve marched, why not occupy? See you on the streets.

Bring your banners, pots and pans, and wear suffragette colours!

As well of the tens of thousands of women who will be marching with their unions on Saturday, there will also be lots of women’s groups and organisations and individual women coming along to make their voices heard and to highlight the unfair and disproportionate impact that the government’s cuts are having on women.

The March for the Alternative is expected to be the largest TUC event for decades and the first national mobilisation against the spending cuts viewed as unfair, too deep and too quick by a majority of voters.

We think it’s important to be prepared, so the day is both as successful and enjoyable as possible for everyone taking part. So here are our top ten tips for first-time marchers:

Getting home after the rally

Posted in March logistics on March 19, 2011

Just as important as planning your journey to the assembly area is thinking about how you will get home again afterwards.

If everyone tried to use the same tube stations at the same time, then there will be big delays. So we have three top tips for getting home after the event.

Our three top tips for getting home after the event are:

  • stagger departures – We are deliberately breaking the rally into four segments to give early arrivals the chance to leave. This will also give late arrivals an opportunity to get closer to the stage.
  • avoid the nearest stations if you can – There are many more public transport options if you are prepared for a short walk. Below you will find advice and maps that can help you avoid the nearest tube stations.
  • keep on top of travel news – we will use the giant screens, dot matrix displays that we are installing in Hyde Park, announcements from the stage and of course the @march26march Twitter account to provide the latest travel information that we have. We will be working closely on the day with Transport for London to provide information.

We know the march is going to be huge. This is exactly as we want it to be. It will be the sheer numbers involved that will send a powerful message to the government.

But large numbers will put pressure on our assembly area and on transport to and from the event. So we have put together some briefings and advice on how best to get to and from the march and rally. We obviously cannot guarantee hassle-free journeys, but we hope this advice will help.

We want to make it easy for as many people as possible to get involved with the March for the Alternative, to show just how widely people are concerned about the government’s programme of fast, deep spending cuts. We’re trying to make the day’s events accessible to disabled people, with a short march point and a static protest, but we appreciate there will be lots of people around the country who aren’t able to make it along at all.

We’re backing an initiative of Disabled People Against Cuts and Beyond Clicktivism to produce an online map in solidarity for disabled people who cannot make it to the 26thMarch rally.

This rather cheeky entry to the TUC’s video contest takes the idea that all cuts can have very real consequences, even if you claim they’re only small. The contest has closed now, and you can watch and have your say on the videos submitted, before the judges get their hands on them. There are some great ideas, and we’ll feature a few more of them here – as well as showing winning entries on the big screen at the rally on the 26th.

There are no official feeder marches!

Posted in March logistics on March 10, 2011

A number of people approached us some weeks ago about organising feeder marches on March 26th. We thought long and hard about this, but decided against, other than the TUC stewarded short assembly point in St James St for those unable to march the whole route. There are a number of reasons for this, but [...]

What are we marching for?

What are we marching for?

Posted in Media on March 8, 2011

There have been two interesting and useful contributions to the debate about what we are marching for.

In yesterday’s Guardian, George Monbiot suggested that we were not clear enough about the alternative and could not boil it down to a flyer (though we quite like being called “brilliant and brave”).

We’ve done our best to set out both the arguments against the cuts and the alternative – and boiled down to bullet points the alternative reads:

Reclaiming the banks: Activists turn British banks into creches, classrooms and launderettes in protest over public service cuts

By Daily Mail Reporter

Activists stormed more than 40 banks across Britain in protest over executive bonuses and public service cuts -  and turned them into a variety of ad hoc walk-in centres.

UK Uncut said demonstrators set up creches, laundries, school classrooms, libraries, homeless shelters, drama clubs, walk-in clinics, youth centres, job centres and leisure centres at branches of RBS, NatWest and Lloyds.

At 10am in Camden, north London, demonstrators invaded a NatWest and set up a creche where children played, practiced musical instruments while parents caught up.

Meanwhile in nearby Islington 50 activists set up a laundry in an RBS branch in reaction to alleged council moves to cut services to the elderly, including a much-needed laundry service.

They set up washing lines, clothes horses, buckets for handwashing and a team of window cleaners on the outside. The protest was attended by over 15 pensioners and local Labour MP Jeremy Corbyn.

Banks were transformed into ‘hospitals’ in Liverpool and Redhill, a classroom in Cardiff, a leisure centre in Eastleigh, a job centre in Birmingham. Twenty people took tents and sleeping bags into NatWest in Brixton to create a homeless shelter.

Aisha Atkins, 32, said: ‘There are alternatives to the cuts, for example, making the banks pay for a crisis they created or by stopping tax-dodging by big business and the super rich.

‘But the Government is making a political choice to reduce the deficit by making ordinary people pay with job losses and savaged services.

‘We are transforming the banks into schools, leisure centres, laundry services and homeless shelters to show that it’s our society that’s too big to fail, not a broken banking system.’

An RBS spokeswoman said: ‘We fully respect the right to peaceful protest. Minimising disruption to our customers is our priority.

Honouring the passing of
a great Lady – Elisabeth Beckett.

“I am old and now seriously ill.
I cannot die without making clear to you,
that you have broken your oath to us your people.” ~

(Elisabeth Beckett’s last letter to the Queen, 21st January, 2009)

Her Majesty The Queen
Buckingham Palace
London SW1A 1AA
21 January 2009

Madam

Unconstitutional reign

Giving careful consideration to the mode of address in this letter, although in courtesy I have addressed it in conventional manner, it is clear that having, in effect, abdicated by failure to perform your coronation oath you leave the people of this nation without effective titular head to whom we may address our petitions. I write to you only in your pre-eminence in Common Law.
I write on Edmund Burke’s remark that for evil to flourish it is sufficient for good men to do nothing.

At your coronation you swore on oath to rule this country according to our laws and customs. This contract with us was written clearly in Magna Carta and replicated by Edward I in 1274. After saying that he would give no such oath, the archbishops, bishops, barons and freemen said that, in this case, they would get another king.

In Magna Carta it was made clear that if the monarch went against this oath then chapter 61 would apply, the contract would be broken and the monarch would have to give up his position and possessions. You have, throughout your reign, disregarded our laws and customs in the legislation that has gone through Parliament.

I believe that you have done this on the basis of the Fabian inspired Parliament Act of 1911 which argued untruthfully that since royal assent had never been denied by a monarch since 1707 (when Queen Anne sent back a Bill) the use of the royal assent had fallen into abeyance. This claim was untrue and treasonable. Only the year before, Asquith had been forced to go to the country by Edward VII who sent back the same Bill to Parliament. And indeed monarchs had refused assent on at least six other occasions since 1707. On each occasion this refusal of assent was because the Bills concerned breached our constitution.

In other words, the 1911 claim, is incorrect and the monarch’s assent was never and can never be deemed unnecessary or automatic, even though George V chose to accept that the royal assent was now a formality and that the monarch could not, in reality refuse assent – as in the Northern Ireland Bill.

Despite all the long years of your reign this method of agreement, either forced on you, or under “automatic assent” nevertheless cannot be upheld as lawful.

Many people who have written to you on constitutional matters have received replies from your secretary (most recently, Sonia Bonici) saying that their letter had been forwarded to the government department misleadingly called the Department of Constitutional Affairs and Ministry of Justice. Your compliance with this has permitted the judiciary under these government departments to claim, as in the Chagos Archipelago appeal, that our fundamental liberties do not exist and that the peoples of these islands have no rights under our law.

I am old and now seriously ill. I cannot die without making clear to you that you have broken your oath to us your people.

The 1911 act purports to permit taxes to be levied on us merely by a majority in the House of Commons and without reference to the upper chamber. This again is against our constitution and specifically not permitted by our Petition of Right of 1627. The most serious instance of this is the use of our taxes to fund the banking system of this country: this is being explained to the electorate as a step which will in some way make us rich, whilst in fact it is not only unlawful, but a most serious abrogation of our rights and your duties under our constitution.

Your contract with the people of this country and the colonies and dominions cannot be destroyed by the chicanery of the Fabians in the 1911 Act, nor by subsequent legislation. If you have the courage to fulfil your contract, however belatedly, you could prorogue Parliament now and have a free election with or without party divisions so that this country can go forward in a proper and united way to remove us from the difficulties that have ensued since the 1911 Parliament Act.

Yours Faithfully,

Elisabeth Beckett

Elisabeth

By David Heatherington

The Westminster News

As one flagrant breach of the Constitution is piled onto another, Mrs. Elisabeth Beckett is one of those who is prepared to stand up and fight.

When she discovered that her council tax bill was being used as a vehicle to extract money from her for a European Union inspired regional assembly, she went on the offensive.
She launched four legal cases against the government citing erosion of the constitution, Breach of Contract, Breach of Trust and for Treason and Legal Fraud. Each time her paperwork was sent back marked “No such case known in Law”.

LEGAL FRAUD

Now she is refusing to pay the local tax on her house in Alston, Cumbria, and has been the subject of considerable harassment by bailiffs.

Mrs. Beckett, whose father was Ronald Brymer Beckett, a High Court Judge, has researched the British Constitution and states that there are three general principles governing the system of raising money for public purposes by compelling the payment by individuals of sums of money called taxes.

1) Subjects of every state ought to contribute to the support of the Government as nearly as possible in proportion to their respective abilities; that is, in proportion to the revenue that they respectively enjoy under the protection of the state. In the observation or neglect of this maximum consists what is called equality or inequality taxation.

2) The tax that each individual is bound to pay ought to be certain and not arbitrary. The time, manner and quality of the payment ought to be certain and not arbitrary, clear to the contributor and to every other person.

3) Every tax ought to be so contrived as both to take out and keep out of the pockets of the people as little as possible over and above what it brings into the public treasury of the State.

Mrs. Beckett, who was a District Officer’s wife in India, believes that adding onto local taxes the cost of illegal immigrants or local assemblies that are a link to the European Union, itself a body not allowed under our Constitution, is illegal. Money raised for local councils should be described as a service charge, not a Tax.

Mrs. Beckett says the adding to our Service Charges of other items stems from the 1911 Parliament Act when the Marxists, Socialists, Fabians and Sinn Fein and the Liberal Government under Asquith took the power of Taxation from the King and the scrutiny of the Lords, so that the party that gets into power can tax in any way they like without any supervision or control.

Affidavit of [Your Name Here]

In Pursuit of Justice and Right, And in Full Exercise Of My Undoubted & Lawful Duty to My Sovereign Lady, Elizabeth the Queen -

I, [Your Name Here], now resident at [Your Address Here].

MAKE OATH AND SAY AS FOLLOWS –

IT BEING APPARENT TO ME and to a multitude of others that divers evil persons have falsely and unlawfully induced Our Sovereign Lady to believe that they alone are the true representatives of the people placed in Her Majesty’s Care by Almighty God -

AND IT BEING APPARENT TO ME and to a multitude of others that these same evil persons have unlawfully and falsely induced Our Sovereign Lady to give an unlawful effect to legislation that has violated and continues to violate the Common Law: Which legislation further serves to undermine; deny and destroy the Absolute Supremacy of Her Majesty’s Imperial Crown, all to the prejudice of Her Majesty’s People, and in absolute contravention of the right of the people to live in accordance with their own laws and customs (as evidenced by the terms of the Oath that was undertaken by Our Sovereign Lady before Almighty God at the time of her  Coronation)  -

AND IT BEING FURTHER APPARENT TO ME and to a multitude of others that the entirely lawful authority of Our Sovereign Lady the Queen to Uphold & Defend Her People is now so reduced &/or destroyed by the many processes of Treason that have been and are now being employed against Her Majesty’s Authority from within the ranks of those evil persons who have been and are now entrusted with authority to manage the affairs of Her Majesty’s Parliament & Government of the United Kingdom –

That my Security and Safety under the Rule of those Laws that are my inalienable birthright are now threatened to
my personal detriment and danger and to the detriment and danger of my family; my people and my country in
their entirety  –

AND IT BEING FINALLY APPARENT TO ME that I can achieve no redress to those many grievances that I now have and which result entirely from the Unlawful Conduct of those Evil Persons who now surround the Person and Throne of my Lawful Sovereign, except by means of the lawful process that I now intend –

I NOW PLACE ON THE RECORD of All Persons who now claim to assert a lawful authority over me in the name of Elizabeth the Queen that unless there is correction to the many processes of misgovernment & abuse that have been and are now being imposed on me; with such process of correction being commenced; undertaken; evidenced and given a first and lasting effect within a period of 40 days from this present date –

SUCH PROCESS OF CORRECTION being fully evidenced by Her Majesty’s dismissal of the Assembly of Traitors that is now falsely describing itself as the Representation of the People within the House of Commons AND WITH SUCH DISMISSAL providing the entirety of the People themselves with full opportunity to speak and to act on their own behalf in the election of representatives that are truly loyal to the purposes of Her Majesty’s Throne & People  -

THEN I WILL WITHDRAW And withhold all allegiance & obedience to the Person and Crown of Our Sovereign Lady, Elizabeth the Queen, and those who falsely claim to speak &/or to act in Her Name, and by such action, I will remove myself entirely from the authority of those Evil Persons who now seek to abuse & misuse me in the name of Elizabeth, the Queen and in absolute violation of the Common Law of the People to which I belong –

AND I GIVE NOTICE that I will return to my full allegiance to the Person; Estate & Imperial Crown of Elizabeth the Queen only when Her Majesty the Queen is released from the bondage that now prevents her from the free exercise of her lawful authority and duty to Uphold the Common Law that is my birthright and to ensure for all time to come that the government of my country is conducted in full accordance with the laws and customs of my people.

May God in His Mercy, Defend the Right & May God Save the Queen from those who now hold her in an Unlawful Captivity.

Second Affidavit of [Your Name Here]

WHEREAS It Is Now Made Plain To Me that Elizabeth the Queen has been entirely deposed from her Freedoms; Crown; Authority & Dignity, by the devious machinations of traitors and by all of those evil persons who have formerly or do now support the enterprises of treason, contrary to the Laws of God and contrary to the known laws and customs of the kingdom and people of England -

AND WHEREAS the said Elizabeth the Queen is now entirely deposed from her lawful power and authority to Govern the Nations & Peoples of the United Kingdom, with Northern Ireland –

AND WHEREAS the said Elizabeth the Queen has been and is now unlawfully restrained from providing a full and adequate response to the content and requirements of an affidavit that I have served upon her in a lawful manner –

NOW I, [Your Name Here], now resident at [Your Address Here].

MAKE OATH AND SAY AS FOLLOWS –

FOR THE REASONS GIVEN within the content of the preamble to this present document, I Must and Do Now Remove Myself from All and Any Allegiance to Elizabeth the Queen, to the purpose of removing myself at law from the authority of all of those Hateful & Evil Persons who have taken it upon themselves to hold Elizabeth the Queen a prisoner in her own land – and or who have taken it upon themselves to misgovern the United Kingdom in the Queen’s Name, by the process of laying an unlawful claim to the True Authority of Elizabeth the Queen; such claim to the Royal Authority being entirely contrary to the known and most ancient laws and customs of the realm and being most clearly an  expression of Treason.

I DECLARE that as from and including this present date, and for all such time as may now be required to restore Elizabeth the Queen to Her Freedom and to The Lawful Dignity & Authority of her Crown, I DENY AND WITHHOLD ALL ALLEGIANCE AND OBEDIENCE TO ELIZABETH THE QUEEN, to the precise purpose of providing some defence to Her Majesty’s Person; Royal Estate and Freedoms, by the process of denying all and any lawful recognition to those Evil Persons who now hold Her Majesty captive to their own Treasons; Evil Designs and Unlawful Purposes, contrary to law -

AND TO THE FURTHER PURPOSE that my own Security and Safety under the Rule of those Laws that are my inalienable birthright may be safeguarded against the threats to Freedom & Liberty now being posed by Divers Evil Persons, contrary to law.

I NOW DECLARE to All Persons claiming a legal authority to exercise the power of government, in the name of Elizabeth the Queen that their authority to govern me in any way whatsoever is both denied and ended.

I FURTHER DECLARE to all such persons that my personal freedom comes directly to me from God Himself, and that the walls and doors of all and any prisons now under the control of Traitors to the Crown & People of the United Kingdom will crack wide and will open at the behest of God Himself, if they should seek to impose penalty upon me for my departure from their mischiefs.

FINALLY, I give Full Notice & Assurance  that I will return to my allegiance and obedience to the Person; Estate & Imperial Crown of Elizabeth the Queen when Her Majesty is entirely released from the bondage that now prevents her from the free exercise of her lawful authority and duty to Govern Her Peoples in accordance with their own laws & customs; which authority requires Her to Defend Her Peoples; Her Kingdoms; Her Realms and Her Territories in full accordance with the terms of the Oath that was Sworn before Almighty God & The People on 2nd June, 1953.

THE COMMON LAW OF ENGLAND is my birthright and at any future time of returning to a condition of Full Allegiance and Obedience to the authority of Elizabeth the Queen, I will require and expect to receive The Queen’s Own Freely-Given Assurance that the government of my country will from that same time be conducted in full accordance with the laws and customs of my people; which laws and customs require and demand that the activities of all and any parliaments and governments of the United Kingdom be constrained to act within those provisions of the law that provide for the existence of such parliaments and governments.

May God in His Mercy, Defend the Right & May God Save the Queen from those who now hold her in an Unlawful Captivity.
